SOCI 208. GERONTOLOGY. A general introduction to gerontology, with emphasis on the normative aspects of aging and adaptation to old age. Topics include the role of senior citizens in the family and a youth-oriented culture, theories of disengagement, role activity in retirement and aging from a cross-cultural perspective. Three hours.
