Description

MUSI 230. JAZZ HISTORY. A study of the literature and culture of jazz music and jazz musicians of the 20th and 21st centuries. The course discusses the people, history, and compositions of jazz with a focus on the musical characteristics that define early jazz, swing, bebop, fusion, experimental and modern jazz styles. Although a background in music is helpful, it is not required. Semester course, three hours.
