EDRS 525. LEADERSHIP IN LITERACY. A culminating course in the reading specialist program, this course is designed to equip reading specialists with the skills to build a positive school culture focused on literacy achievement for all learners, with particular emphasis on vulnerable and at-risk populations. The course focuses on the reading specialist’s role in empowering teachers and school systems to focus on high reading achievement, build strong pedagogical communities committed to the science of reading, and reducing the need for remedial reading interventions through quality implementation or the literacy curriculum and teaching. Capstone course, three hours.
