CCED 203. THE ART OF CLASSICAL TEACHING METHODS, INCLUDING TRIVIUM AND QUADRIVIUM. This course introduces pre-service educators to the foundational principles and practices of classical education, focusing on the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric) and the Quadrivium (Arithmetic, Geometry, Music, Astronomy). Participants will explore the historical roots and enduring relevance of these methods, learning how they cultivate critical thinking, eloquence, and intellectual virtue. Through lectures, discussions, and practical applications, students will examine strategies for implementing classical pedagogy in modern classrooms, fostering a love of truth, beauty, and goodness. By the end of the course, educators will be equipped to design lessons that integrate classical approaches with contemporary educational standards. Spring semester, three hours.
