SPAN 323. LATIN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION AND CULTURE II. A cultural understanding of Latin America including identity issues, "mestizaje?, socio-political characteristics, and patterns of thought and expression in language, literature, philosophy, and art. The course also examines the effects of the Spanish conquest upon the development of Latin American society. It is not necessary to take Spanish 322 before Spanish 323. Prerequisite: Spanish 295 or 301. Alternate spring semesters, three hours.
