SPAN 318. MINISTRY IN SPANISH. An exploration of the historical events, denominational involvement, and important leaders of Latino Protestantism and their effect on the current climate of the Latino church in the United States and Latin America. Students read works from contemporary professors of Hispanic studies and pastoral leadership and interact with pastors and missionaries working with Latino churches. The course introduces vocabulary needed to communicate in Spanish in church and mission settings along with common scripture and worship songs from Latin American countries. Taught in Spanish. Prerequisite: Spanish 303 or 306; or Spanish 202 may be taken concurrently with permission from the department. Offered periodically, three hours.
