SPAN 101. ELEMENTARY SPANISH I. This course is intended for students with no previous study of Spanish or those who have a low level of communicative proficiency. Classroom activities foster oral communication and provide practice in grammar, reading, and writing. Students develop skills applicable to real-life situations. Culture is presented through examining native speaker perspectives towards their own products and practices and encouraging cross-cultural comparisons. Taught in Spanish. Students who have previously studied Spanish must take the placement exam before enrolling in Spanish 101. Three hours.
