NURS 434. ADVANCED NURSING ASSESSMENT. This 8-week course focuses on the ongoing development of assessment skills based upon the acuity, environment, and patient findings. The purpose of the course is to review how to perform a complete physical assessment based upon presentation of symptoms, physical system(s) involved, health care setting, and patient findings/acuity. The course topics include identifying the purpose of the assessment, types of nursing assessments, head-to-toe assessment framework, data collection, interpretation or findings, and clinical decision-making. The prerequisites may be waived with approval from the Director of Nursing. Spring semester online, three hours.
