MUSI 202. INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC EDUCATION. This course is designed for students majoring in music education. This course is intended to be taken concurrently with Foundations of Teaching (EDUC 202). This course focuses a close lens on the many facets of music education, including the historical and philosophical foundations of music education, special education in the music classroom, curriculum/lesson/unit planning and assessment, as well as the political and social issues facing music educators today. This course requires students to participate in class discussions and to write a formal paper focusing on a topic relevant to the course. Corequisite: Education 202. Semester course, one hour.
