PROPULSION AND POWER (MECE 419)

Term: 2025-2026 Spring Semester

Schedule

Tue-Thu, 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM (1/12/2026 - 5/5/2026) Location: MAIN HH 112

Description

MECE 419 PROPULSION AND POWER. Fundamental topics in fluid flow and thermodynamics will be used to design and analyze different types of propulsion and power systems. Topics include design and operation of subsonic/supersonic aircraft engines, propulsion design for rocket or satellite systems, and performance analysis for stationary or marine gas turbines. Component design for nozzles, diffusers, compressors, and combustors will also be discussed. Throughout the course, MATLAB or other computer programs will be used to conduct parametric studies of engine performance under different operating conditions or design configurations. Prerequisite: Mechanical Engineering 214 and 326. Fall semester, three hours.
