MATH 115. THE HISTORY OF MATHEMATICS. This course provides college-level experience in mathematics and its history within the liberal arts tradition. Students will learn about the development in various cultures of several significant mathematical topics. They will be in a position to recognize the impact of some mathematical discoveries on the course of history, including in the arts and technology. They will also be able to recognize the critical importance of the application of some mathematical techniques in the contemporary world. Three hours.
