	Description
		
			HIST 341. THE RISE OF CHRISTIANITY. This course analyzes Christianity as it grew from an obscure movement into a dynamic force which swamps the pagan cults of the Roman Empire. Major topics include Roman paganism, Roman religious policy, the growth and persecution of Christianity, tensions between Christianity and classical culture, and the development of early medieval Europe and Byzantium. Offered alternate years, semester course, three hours.
