Description

HIST 263. HISTORY OF MODERN GERMANY. An examination of the history of the unified German state from 1871 to the present, with particular emphasis on the First World War and the rise, rule, and results of Nazism. It also focuses on the division of Germany and its central role in the development and conduct of the Cold War. Special attention is paid to the conduct of Christian churches and to issues of race relations and nationalism. Offered alternate falls, semester course, three hours.
