Description

HIST 103. FRESHMAN SEMINAR. This course is designed to take beginning history majors methodically through the process and techniques of historical research, from the crafting of a question through written and oral presentations of one’s work. It emphasizes designing historical research questions; finding, evaluating, and using primary and secondary sources; citing sources properly; and writing a cogent paper. Students will also be introduced to the philosophical dimensions of the discipline including ways in which the historian may contribute to the common good. Topics of study vary depending on the instructor. This course is designated Information Literacy (IL). Three hours.
