Description

FREN 332. CARIBBEAN AND AFRICAN LITERATURE IN FRENCH. The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the vibrant literary scene in French-speaking regions outside of Europe, with an emphasis on the Caribbean, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The course may include novels, essays, or short stories by authors such as Suzanne Dracius (Martinique), Patrick Chamoiseau (Martinique), Albert Memmi (Tunisia), Assia Djebar (Algeria), Alain Mabanckou (Republic of Congo), and Leonora Miano (Cameroon). This course is designated Information Literacy (IL). Taught in French. Prerequisite: French 300-level course, or by permission. Offered periodically, three hours.
