FREN 301. UNDERSTANDING FRANCE AND THE FRENCH. Students gain insight into modern day France and her people through an understanding of her recent history, institutions, conventions, and cultural products. A variety of sources (articles, films, essays, etc.) will facilitate discussion of key aspects of French society. Taught in French. Prerequisite: French 202 or placement exam. Alternate years, three hours.
