Description
CHEM 421. INORGANIC/BIOINORGANIC CHEMISTRY. This course is a short survey of inorganic chemistry with an in-depth treatment of transition metal chemistry and its application to biological systems and molecules. It is important for the student to become aware that many important biological molecules have transition metal atoms at their active sites and the definitive role that these metal centers play in their chemistries. Prerequisites: Chemistry 231 and 242. Fall semester only, two hours.
