Description
BIOL 404: ADVANCED TOPICS IN DROSOPHILA GENETICS. Using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system, students will interrogate the molecular pathways underlying the control of cell proliferation in this course-based research experience. Students will learn how epigenetic modifications impact proliferation and will work to identify novel factors that contribute to the effects of these modifications. Focus will be placed on developing laboratory skills including the phenotypic analysis of Drosophila and microscopy as well as data presentation skills both orally and in writing. Pre-requisites: BIOL 233, BIOL 234, and BIOL 401A. Alternate Spring Semesters, four hours.
