Description
BIOL 210. INTRODUCTION TO APICULTURE. This introductory course will offer the student an opportunity to learn about the amazing world of honeybees. Bee biology, principles of beekeeping, bee diseases, and bee ecology will all be discussed. Students will also have the unique opportunity to see our bees at work at our college-associated apiary. A single and a two-hour time block will allow for lecture and hands-on time in the bee yard and lab. Note: While close exposure to live honey bees will be limited in this course, if you have a known severe allergic (anaphylaxis) reaction to honey bees, you should not take this course (this is extremely rare). Prerequisites: Biology 101 and 102. Spring semester, three hours.
